NEW YORK / BOSTON - The NJIT track and field teams open their indoor season this weekend at three meets.

Four distance runners will compete in the 5,000m at the The Armory Collegiate Distance Carnival on Friday at 10:45 a.m.
Jessie Fotheringham will run the 5,000m at the Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener, hosted by Boston, on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.. The meet will be streamed live on FloTrack. The rest of the team will compete at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational, hosted by St. John's, on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Ocean Breeze Complex.

In the 2024-25 season, the men's team finished in eighth place and the women's team placed ninth at the America East Indoor Championships.
Zaidah Lightener earned a silver medal in the triple jump while the women's 4x800m relay team captured bronze.

Ryan Nartey, and
Andrew Sabeh are the top returners from the NJIT men. Freshman Lasse Bjørn Jensen leads the distance group after breaking the 10K school record at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.

NJIT fans will get their first look at several talented newcomers this weekend.

The Highlanders bolstered their hurdles group with New Jersey natives
Jason Alvarez,
Eatoniel Brown,
Dakota Jones, and
Aniya Wilkins.
Jayden Smith leads the freshman sprinters, while
Caleb Duvelson headlines the newcomer throwers.

The Highlanders will close out 2025 at the Wagner Shootout on Dec. 12 at Ocean Breeze Complex.
