Overall Results 
MADISON, NJ–The NJIT men's and women's fencing teams competed at the two-day Drew Invitational inside the Simon Forum and Athletic Center.
The NJIT men finished with a 6-0 record competing only on Sunday at the Drew Invitational with wins over Detroit Mercy, Johns Hopkins, Lafayette, Wagner, Cleveland State and Stevens.
Leading the Highlanders on the day was graduate student Paul Veltrup who picked up 17 victories out of 18 bouts (94.4%). Veltrup finished third overall out of 152 fencers and second in the men's epee competition. 
Freshman Fabio Mastromarino combined for 16 victories out of 18 bouts (88.9%). Mastromarino finished fourth overall and third in the men's epee competition. 
In the men's foil competition, newcomer Julian Detering recorded 11 victories out of 12 bouts (91.7%), placing 20th overall and sixth in men's foil while Aidan Doctor picked up 10 victories out of 12 bouts (83.3%), finishing 25th overall and eighth in the men's foil competition.
Junior Adrian Figueredo registered 13 victories out of 16 bouts (81.3%), placing 11th overall and fourth in the men's sabre competition.  
In the women's competition, the top finisher for NJIT was freshman Asia Vitali who combined for 11 victories out of 12 bouts (92.3%), placing 11th overall out of 148 fencers and third in the women's epee competition. 
Freshman Dila Erdogan combined for 10 victories while junior Stella Frias combined for nine victories. 
Both teams will return to action on November 9 at the Columbia Invitational.  The meet is set to begin at 12pm.
