PHILADELPHIA - Briana Andreoli broke the program record with 49 career points after scoring in the 52nd minute, as the NJIT women's soccer team (5-3-6, 0-1-3 AE) earned a 2-2 draw at Penn (4-3-4, 0-2-1 Ivy League) on Wednesday night at Rhodes Field.
How it Happened
Penn struck first in the 13th minute, as Kylie Emanuel found the back of the net off assists from Avery Chapel and Lily White.
NJIT responded in the 41st minute when
Kirra Hyder scored for the second straight game, tying the match at 1-1 heading into halftime.
In the 52nd minute,
Maria Nogueira delivered a through ball to Andreoli, who finished on a breakaway to give NJIT a 2-1 lead. With the goal, Andreoli now leads the America East in both goals (8) and points (19) this season. The senior has scored a goal in four straight games.
Despite several second-half chances, Penn tied the game in the 89th minute on a header from Eden Veenema, assisted by Mallory Lucas.
Merle Hueser, Cailtin Mahala,
Maria Nogueira, and
Kennedy Yon played the full 90 minutes.
Mojisola Ayodele made six saves in the second half. Andreoli led the Highlanders with four shots.
Penn led in shots (20-9), shots on goal (10-6), corner kicks (6-0), and possession (69%-31%).
