NORTH HAVEN, CT–The NJIT women's tennis team fell 7-0 in the 2025 season opener at Quinnipiac Saturday afternoon at North Haven Health and Racquet Club. 

The Bobcats won the double point with wins at the second and third spot and swept the singles competition to record the 7-0 victory.

In doubles competition, NJIT Irene Cocero and Arina Babkova recorded a 7-6(4) victory at first doubles.

A pair of Highlanders battled out a three set tilt – Paula Menendez Alvarez at first singles and Babkova at the fourth spot.  Menendez Alvarez dropped a 3-6, 7-6(4), 10-4 to Quinnipiac's Willow Renton and Bakova fell 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 to the Bobcats Anagha Shankar.

NJIT will return to action on January 31 when the Highlanders travel down the turnpike and compete against Rutgers.  The match is set to begin at 12pm.
