​PHILADELPHIA–The NJIT men's and women's fencing teams competed at the two-day Philadelphia Invitational this past weekend.

The Highlanders competed against Duke, North Carolina, Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, Sacred Heart, Lafayette, Penn State, Haverford and host UPenn.

On the men's side, Adria Figueredo led the Highlanders in the men's sabre competition, recording a 15-9 overall mark.  Teammate Niels Roubailo, competing in the men's epee competition combined for a 13-9 mark on the day.

On the women's side, Stella Frias posted 10 wins on the day in the women's foil competition while Gala Krsmanovic notched nine wins in the women's epee competition. 

Both teams will break for a week and return back to action on February 2 at the Eric Sollee Invitational.
