NEWARK, NJ –
The NJIT men's basketball team has announced its non-conference schedule, completing its full schedule for the 2024-25 season. The Highlanders will face 15 non-league opponents this season, including a trio of power conference foes, a pair of teams that reached the NCAA Tournament and an additional two teams that qualified for the NIT.

The announcement of the non-conference portion of the schedule completes NJIT's slate of games for the 2024-25 season. The Highlanders will play 31 games in the regular season, 13 of which will be played at the Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness & Events Center.

Year two of the Grant Billmeier era gets underway on Monday, Nov. 4 as the Highlanders welcome Penn to the Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness & Events Center at 7 p.m. Following this, NJIT will hit the road to take on Villanova on Friday, Nov. 8. The Highlanders will return home the following Tuesday, Nov. 12 as they host Loyola (MD).

NJIT will then embark on a seven-game road trip, beginning with trips to Morgan State (Nov. 16), George Washington (Nov. 18) and Bucknell (Nov. 21). The team will then head to Cleveland, Ohio during Thanksgiving Week to take part in the Viking Invitational, hosted by Cleveland State. The Highlanders will face the host Vikings on Tuesday, Nov. 26 before facing off against Morehead State on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The Eagles are fresh off a program-record 26 wins last season, which culminated in a trip to the NCAA Tournament as the OVC Champions.

Upon returning to the east coast, NJIT will face two more difficult road tests. On Sunday, Dec. 1, the Highlanders make the trek north to face UMass. Three days later on Wednesday, Dec. 4, NJIT will head across town to Prudential Center to face reigning-NIT Champions Seton Hall. The game will be Billmeier's first official matchup against his alma mater, as he played for the Pirates from 2003-06 and served as Director of Basketball Operations from 2010-14 and Assistant Coach from 2015-22. Billmeier shared the bench with current Seton Hall head coach Shaheen Holloway for much of his tenure in South Orange.

Of NJIT's final five non-conference tilts, three of them will be played inside the WEC. Navy comes to University Heights for a matchup on Saturday, Dec. 7, followed by a quick trip down to Delaware State on Wednesday. Dec. 11. The Highlanders will then return home for a pair of games, starting with a matchup against Wagner on Saturday, Dec. 14. The Seahawks, coached by Donald Copeland, are coming off a MAAC championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. Copeland and Billmeier were teammates at Seton Hall from 2003-06 and were on the same coaching staff with the Pirates during the 2021-22 season.

After Christmas, the Highlanders will fly cross-country to Seattle, Wash. to square off with newly minted Big Ten member Washington on Sunday, Dec. 29. NJIT will then return home to round out non-conference action against Medgar Evers College on Saturday, Jan. 4.
