EASTON, Pa. - The NJIT women's soccer team (3-4-1) fell 1-0 against Lafayette (3-2) on Sunday afternoon at Gummeson Grounds: Home of Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.
In the 13th minute, Lafayette's Alexa Jindal scored her first collegiate goal to give the Leopards an early lead. Jindal took a game-high five shots, all on target.
NJIT's best chance to equalize was in the 57th minute when
Briana Andreoli took an open shot in the box that hit the post.
With three seconds left in the game, a Lafayette player fouled an NJIT player just outside the box, resulting in a free kick. However, the attempt was unsuccessful and Lafayette secured the win.
Sofia Mignon,
Maria Nogueira,
Taylor Pape, and
Kennedy Westbrook played the full 90 minutes. Goalkeeper
Samantha Constantine started and recorded three saves, while
Mojisola Ayodele played the second half and made two saves.
Emily Jozak and
Kelsey Ramos each had one shot on goal.
NJIT led in corner kicks (4-2) and possession (64%-36%), but Lafayette outpaced NJIT in shots (8-6) and shots on goal (6-2).

NJIT will begin America East Conference play on the road against Bryant on Sunday, September 22 at 1:00 p.m.
