NEWARK, N.J. - The NJIT women's soccer team (0-1-1) played to a scoreless draw against Marist (0-1-1) on Thursday at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
The Red Foxes had a chance to break the tie in the 43rd minute when they put the ball in the back of the net, but an offsides call kept the game scoreless going into halftime. NJIT outshot Marist 6-2 in the first half.
The strong defense by both teams continued in the second half. Around the 53rd minute, Marist blocked three NJIT shots.
Junior
Kelsey Ramos struck a shot in the 61st minute, but Marist goalkeeper Maddy Catalanotti made the save. Another shot by NJIT's
Caroline Caputo was saved by Catalanotti in the 70th minute.
The Highlanders' next big opportunity came in the 80th minute when Briana Anderoli's shot hit the crossbar.
NJIT led Marist in shots (17-6), shots on goal (3-2), corner kicks (8-7), and possession (52%-48%).
Ramos led the team with four shots, two of which were on target.
Merle Hueser,

Taylor Pape, and
Riley Jones played all 90 minutes. NJIT goalkeeper
Mojisola Ayodele made two saves.
