Liam Brown Earns PLL Training Camp Invite

5/20/2024 1:25:00 PM

NEWARK, N.J. — NJIT grad goalkeeper Liam Brown will have the opportunity to continue his playing career in the professional ranks after earning a training camp invitation from the Utah Archers of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). The Archers announced Monday morning that Brown was added to the team via a Special Training Camp Designee waiver claim.

"The amount of time and consistency that Liam has put into his game has earned him this incredible opportunity with the PLL. As a program here at NJIT, it's a step in the right direction for us as Liam was an integral part of our success and I know that will carry over into the camp with the Archers," head coach Eric Wolf said of Brown after the announcement.

The Archers - the 2023 PLL Champions - and the rest of the PLL teams will hold their Training Camp and 2024 Opening Weekend games in America East territory on the campus of UAlbany from May 31 to June 2.

In goal, Brown was strong and steady all season long and throughout his career. He ended the 2024 regular season first in the America East in saves (185; 10th in NJIT), saves per game (13.21;9th in NCAA), save percentage (.552; 13th in NCAA), minutes (833:02), and second in goals against average (10.80). Brown maintained a spot in the top ten in saves among active Division I players and ended the year third with an NJIT record 735. Brown also had the top save performance of any AE goalie (24 at UMBC on Apr. 20), two of the top four and three of the top eight. He also recorded his first career point, an assist against Bryant on Mar. 30. Brown earned America East Defensive Player of the Week honors once this year (Feb. 5) and earned a spot on the USILA/Blatant Lacrosse Division I Team of the Week on Feb. 6. He is also the only America East goalkeeper to record a 20-save outing in each of the last four seasons.

If he makes the Archers' roster, Brown will be the first Highlander to play professionally since Max Wilson, who was drafted 12th overall in the 2021 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Entry Draft by the Halifax Thunderbirds.
