NEWARK, N.J. — The NJIT men's lacrosse team were defeated by the UAlbany Great Danes, 14-9, Saturday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

HIGHLANDER LEADERS
1ST QUARTER
  • The first six goals of the game, across the opening 10-plus minutes, alternated between UAlbany (5-6, 4-1 AE) scoring first and NJIT responding. Wasitowski (12:40), Roberts (9:02 from Ford) and Cover (4:39 from Wasitowski) answered the call each time the Highlanders went ahead.
  • The Great Danes would close the period with two goals less than a minute apart to take a 5-3 lead.

2ND QUARTER
  • Within the first four minutes of the second, NJIT would tie the match for the fourth time.
  • Muscatella netted his first of the day off a Roberts assist (12:51) and Gozdenovich went from securing a defensive stop to scoring a solo goal in a matter of seconds to level the game with 11:10 to go.
  • Two quick UAlbany goals reestablished the Great Danes' two-goal lead (7-5) at the 5:08 mark.
  • Corry's score (4:08) made it a one-score affair (7-6) but a UAlbany answer pushed the visitors back up by two (8-6) by halftime.

3RD QUARTER
  • The slowest offensive quarter of the game (three total goals) saw Corry find Bowie for the first goal of the half (12:48; 8-7), UAlbany scoring the second (9:59, 9-7) and the Great Danes netting the last one after an over eight-minute drought (1:18) to take a 10-7 advantage.

4TH QUARTER
  • UAlbany scored three straight goals before two NJIT extra-man scores (Muscatella from Bowie at 12:26; Roberts at 9:49) halted the extended 5-0 run.
  • The final goal of the game came from the Great Danes with 3:48 remaining.
