Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Bested By UMBC In Road Finale

BALTIMORE — The NJIT men's lacrosse team closed out its road schedule with a 13-6 defeat against the UMBC Retrievers Saturday afternoon at UMBC Stadium.

For the second straight week, Benjamin Roberts paced the offense for NJIT (7-6, 0-6 AE) with a two-goal performance. The multi-score game was the lone effort for the Highlanders against UMBC (5-5, 4-2 AE) and Roberts' fifth in 13 games in his first year in Newark after transferring from UMass Lowell.

Matching Roberts' point tally was senior Jack Bowie, who assisted on a pair of goals against the Retrievers. Bowie's effort was his third multi-assist game of the year and second in three contests.

Ryan Sininsky, Garrett Muscatella, Hank Bethel, and Brandon Wasitowski also contributed goals, while Adyn Cover registered NJIT's other assist in the game.

Billy Kroeger scooped up a game-high 11 ground balls, was one of five players with a caused turnover, and won the faceoff battle (13-of-22)

Liam Brown surpassed the 700-save mark for his career with a new personal best and school record 24 saves. The grad keeper now has 721 stops on his ledger.

  • Bethel has now scored more goals in 13 games as a Highlander (2) than he did in four seasons at Bucknell (1).
