BOSTON – The NJIT women's volleyball team received three individual honors as the America East announced its annual postseason awards on Wednesday.

Marino, who hails from Freehold, N.J., established herself as the primary setter for the Highlanders during her freshman season. In America East matches, she finished third in the conference in assists per set (6.94) and was fourth in the league in that category across all games (5.55). Marino was also strong on the defensive side, finishing 10

Varela had a stellar final season in Newark, collecting the second-most blocks in a single season in program history with 109. The senior also became NJIT's all-time blocks leader with her 297
th career rejection against Binghamton on Oct. 20. Varela finished third in the America East with 1.22 blocks per set during league action.
