ST. ALBANS, Vt. - Six Highlanders recorded personal-best times at the America East Conference Championships on Saturday at Hard'Ack Recreation Area.
"Another day of individuals taking key steps in the right direction to poise themselves for future successes as Highlanders," distance coach
Mike Cook said. "Of our nine finishers, six ran personal-bests and one ran a critical season-best. On a personal level, after finishing last on both sides and the best 11 weeks of my life working with this team, I am extremely motivated to continue working towards the team's lofty goals, so the outcome reflects our process in a year's time. I would also like to highlight our only graduating senior, Joey Mucci, who ran his socks off to run over 90 seconds faster than last year in his final cross country race as a Highlander. Up next is a critical experience moment as a few of our Highlanders prepare for the Mid-Atlantic Regional meet in less than two weeks at Penn State."
William Mitchell finished in 38th place with a personal-best 8K time of 25:31.80, improving by 23 seconds.
Liam Dougherty posted a personal-best 8K time of 25:51.62, improving by 1 minute and 46 seconds.
Daniel Wilson clocked a personal-best 8K time of 26:17.53.
Kimmie Harding led the NJIT women with a 5K time of 19:42.22.
Jenna Keith (19:56.33) and
Hayley Lucido (20:41.97) recorded a personal-best time for the third consecutive meet, with Lucido improving her 5K time by 2 minutes and 37 seconds.
Delahni Shaw also posted a personal-best 5K time of 20:49.21, improving by 1 minute and 16 seconds.
