Adams Tallies Three Points In 2-2 Draw At First-Place Maine

NJIT broke Maine's eight-game winning streak

ORONO, Maine - Ciara Adams tallied three points, but the game between NJIT (3-10-3, 0-5-2 AE) and first-place Maine (10-1-3, 6-0-1 AE) ended in a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon at Mahaney Diamond. With her three-point performance, Adams ranks ninth in the Division I era with 19 career points. The Highlanders broke Maine's eight-game winning streak with the draw.
 
Bella Ramirez scored her first collegiate goal in the 39th minute, assisted by Adams. NJIT held Maine scoreless in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead at halftime.
   
After a Maine turnover, Adams scored her third goal of the season in the 57th minute, assisted by Sydney Burlingame and Briana Andreoli. With this assist, Andreoli has 30 career points, ranking fourth all-time in the Division I era. Burlingame recorded the first point of her collegiate career.
   
In the 73rd minute, Kennedy Westbrook fouled a Maine player in the box, resulting in the penalty kick. Maine's Lara Kirkby converted the kick, scoring her fourth goal of the season to make it 2-1.
 
Gillian Rovers tied the game in the 84th minute, scoring her first goal of the season with assists from Kristina Kelly and Kayla Kraemer.
 
Goalkeeper Samantha Constantine recorded five saves on 21 shots faced. Westbrook, Sofia Mignon, Maria Nogueira, Adams, and Gibson Graham played the full 90 minutes.
 
Maine led in shots (21-3), shots on goal (7-2), corner kicks (9-3), and possession (65%-35%).
 
NEXT UP
NJIT will play its final game of the season at home against UMBC on October 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
