NEWARK, N.J. - William Mitchell medaled in the men's 8K to highlight the Mets Championships on Saturday at Branch Brook Park.
"Hosting the Mets Championships is always a privilege," distance coach
Mike Cook said. "Our men's team continued their preparations for IC4A's while our women focused on individual PB's at the conference distance of 5K. We are now excited to turn our full attention to the historical IC4A/ECAC Championships this coming Friday in Van Cortlandt Park."
The men earned a fifth-place finish in the 8K, led by Mitchell, who posted a time of 26:20.24 to finish 11th.
Daniel Wilson ran an 8K time of 26:50.22 to finish 27th and
Fabian Herrera (26:53.94) finished two spots behind Wilson.
Joseph Mucci (27:01.62) and
Liam Dougherty (27:37.76) recorded personal-best 8K times. Mucci improved by 13.4 seconds and Dougherty improved by 1 minute and 57 seconds.
Julia Canonaco led the NJIT women in the 5K, clocking a personal-best time of 19:34.41, improving by one minute and 23 seconds.
Kimmie Harding finished 34th with a 5K time of 19:56.42 and
Jenna Keith posted a personal-best 5K time of 20:00.52 to finish in 36th place, improving by 13.8 seconds.
NEXT UP
The Highlanders will compete at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on October 18 at Van Cortlandt Park.
