PHILADELPHIA–The NJIT men's and women's fencing teams opened the 2024 season at the Philadelphia Invitational hosted by No. 7 Penn fencing programs this weekend in the Tse Center.
On the men's side, Niels Roubailo led the epee squad (and all NJIT players) with an impressive 21-9 overall mark followed by Daniel Jeun with a 18-12 record. The epee squad combined for a 48-42 overall record for a 53.33 winning percentage.
Sophomore Adrian Figueredo paced the saber squad with a 16-12 mark while Allen Trudnos registered 10 wins. The saber squad combined for a 49-41 overall mark, food for a 54.44 winning percentage.
Graduate student Cristian Candescu recorded a 15-12 overall record for the foil squad, notching a 55.56 winning percentage.
The NJIT women were paced by graduate student Dominika Pawlowska who combined for a 21-9 overall record with 3-0 wins over Haverford, Penn and Lafayette while picking up 2-1 victories over UNC, FDU, Temple, Northwestern and St. John's.
The two teams will return to action at the Eric Sollee Invitational hosted by Brandeis in Massachusetts on January 27.
