BOSTON, MA - NJIT freshman Sara Siefert was named the America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Siefert was honored after helping lead the Highlanders to a pair of victories in four matches last week. NJIT book ended the week with straight-set victories over CCSU and Saint Peter's, respectively.

The Georgia native put together the best match of her young career in Tuesday's win at CCSU as she hit an impressive .467 pct and tallied 16 kills. Siefert also sent down 10 kills in a four-set loss vs. George Mason, while collecting 10 kills for her first-career double-double.

Siefert and the Highlanders opened this week up with a victory on Tuesday, coming from behind to defeat host FDU in five sets. The outside hitter finished with 11 kills and now is second on the Highlanders with 59 this season. 

NJIT returns to action this weekend with a pair of matches in Massachusetts. The Highlanders will take on Holy Cross on Saturday at 4pm and Merrimack on Sunday at 1.
