NEWARK, NJ - Sophomore
Pablo Perez Ramos was named the Southland Conference Player of the Week for men's tennis, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Perez Ramos earned victories in both doubles and singles play on Saturday to help NJIT edge Bryant 4-3 on the road and improve to 12-1 on the season.
The Spanish native first teamed up with
Josh Smith for a 6-3 win at the top doubles position and then battled for a hard-fought 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 victory at the #1 singles spot to help the Highlanders hold off the Bulldogs in a matchup of Southland Conference affiliate members.
Perez Ramos improved to 11-1 in both singles and doubles play, with all of those victories coming within the top flight.
This is Perez Ramos' third Southland weekly honor of the season.
Perez Ramos and the Highlanders are in Louisana this week where they will take on New Orleans on Wednesday and Nicholls on Friday.
