2ND QUARTER
  • Jack Bowie connected with Mahony on a quick score off a substitution to once again cut the Monmouth advantage in half, 4-2, but Monmouth (1-1) closed out the half with a 4-0 run to set the halftime score at 8-2 .
3RD QUARTER
  • NJIT used the first 15 minutes of the second half to win its first quarter, 5-3, and pull back to within four by the end, 11-7.
  • Wasitowski (13:37) and Corry (8:22) scored the first two goals of the quarter unassisted to make the score 8-4.
  • Monmouth responded with two goals of their own (10-4) before Corry helped put two more tallies on the board (another goal and an assist to Arthur Miller) to set the score at 10-6 with 2:12 left.
  • Both teams traded another goal each before the period closed, with Wasitowski connecting with Miller with just three seconds left.
4TH QUARTER
  • Miller's clock-beating goal was the start of a three-goal spurt (Corry and Bowie scored the first two goals of the fourth) to bring the Highlanders all the way back to within two, 11-9, with just over 13 minutes remaining.
  • The NJIT defense held its ground over the next seven minutes, with Brown make a pair of saves to fend off the Hawks attack, but Monmouth would eventually close out the game with three straight goals
