Stevens, Bugasch, Leigh Lead NJIT At Day 1 Of America East Indoors

BOSTON — The first day of the 2023 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships concluded Friday evening with several NJIT athletes qualifying for Sunday finals and even more athletes registering personal bests among the league's best.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Maddie Stevens (400 meters; 56.75) and Elisha Bugasch (500 meters; 1:04.79) head into Sunday as the top seeds in their respective events after finishing with the best times on the day.
  • Stevens' 400 time and Jacob Leigh's 200 meters time (21.54) set new school records.
  • Leigh was the only Highlander to qualify for two Sunday finals, making the cut in the 200 meters (2nd) and 60 meters (7th).
  • Ten different Highlanders produced personal best performances on Day 1.
  • The first points scored by either team came from the Men's DMR quartet of Fabian Herrera, Jordan Lee, Joseph Mucci, and Reyden Davies placed eighth in the event to pick up one point.
