NEW YORK, N.Y. — The NJIT women's tennis team competed this past weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Women's Northeast Regional Championships, hosted by Columbia University.

Every Highlander picked up at least one victory during the three-day event - either in singles or doubles - and NJIT's time there was highlighted by Sandra Dzhambazov and Sofia Pinedo's doubles run to the quarterfinals.

"I'm very happy how the team competed over the weekend at ITAs," head coach Patricia Piorkowski McDonald said after the event. "This tournament features some of the top teams and players in the Northeast and all five singles qualifiers had first round wins. Sani and Sofia played disciplined doubles and did a great job to get three wins in the tournament and come up just shy of qualifying for the Super Regionals."
