NEWARK, N.J. — NJIT Cross Country swept this week's America East Performer of the Week awards as Sarah Van Ornum and Anthony Dvorsky claimed their respective female and male honors, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Both runners finished in the top ten - Dvorsky fifth, Van Ornum sixth - at the NJIT-hosted Metropolitan Championships on October 7. Van Ornum's 5K time of 18:05.34 set a new school record and Dvorsky's 25:14.80 finish in the 8K now sits second all-time in school history. 

The awards are the second and third all-time for NJIT Cross Country in the America East and brings the Cross Country/Track and Field program AE weekly award tally up to six overall. Van Ornum's honor is also her second of the season after she won her first on September 11 after her collegiate debut. 

NJIT will be back in action at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, being held on Friday, October 13 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
