Cross Country Takes On Host Double Duty And Competes In Metropolitan Championships

NEWARK, N.J. — NJIT Cross Country was quite busy on a rainy Homecoming Saturday afternoon, serving as hosts and participants of the Metropolitan Championships while also hosting the reimagined HighlanderXC Invitational as a meet to support the program.

At METs, the Highlanders produced a top ten finisher in both the Women's 5K and the Men's 8K, as Anthony Dvorsky (25:14.80; 5th place) and Sarah Van Ornum (18:05.34; 6th place) set the pace as NJIT's to performers at the meet.

HIGHLANDER INVITATIONAL | RESULTS
NJIT retooled its annual Highlander meet this year into a showcase of other programs from all three NCAA Divisions and the NJCAA ranks. Army West Point swept the top individual and team spots on the men's and women's sides.

Van Ornum's time is believed to be a new school record in the 5K
