Drew Invitational Results
NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's and women's fencing teams posted a strong outing at the Drew Invitational Sunday.
The NJIT men, who opened up its 2023 at the Drew Invitational went a perfect 7-0 on the day while the NJIT women combined for a 5-1 record.
The Highlander men victories came against: Rutgers, Lafayette, Yeshiva, Stevens, Clemson, Vassar and host Drew. The Highlander women recorded wins against: Rutgers, Lafayette, Clemson, Yeshiva and host Drew.
Freshman Allen Trudnos led the sabre squad with a 15-1 overall record followed by Gonzalo Fernando who went 13-2. Adrian Figeredo went 9-3 overall.
Josh Schaefer paced the foil squad going 16-5 overall followed by Cristian Candescu and Kevin Katayama who went 11-3 on the day.
Niels Roubailo went 11-4 in the epee competition and Matthew Choi combined for a 10-3 mark. Daniel Jeun notched nine wins and Scott Connelly and Ummi Green notched seven wins.
NJIT's Elena Fernandez Negron led the foil squad finishing a perfect 15-0 on the day. Alisa Maloku recorded a 13-5 mark followed by freshman Stella Frias recorded a 13-1 record. Sherlyn Arzola Silva went 11-3.
Sophomore Gala Krsmanovic recorded a 15-3 record on the day to pace the epee squad while Dominika Pawlowska added a 14-1 mark while Megan Hillyer posted eight wins.
Both Highlander teams will return to action on Saturday, November 18 at the Columbia Invitational.
