Three Near Winners Highlight Track & Field's Time At Gotham Cup

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The last of four straight season-opening meets for the NJIT men's and women's track & field programs concluded Friday evening with the teams' showing at the NYC Gotham Cup.

TOP PERFORMANCES OF THE MEET

NJIT secured three runner-up finishes between the two teams. Freshmen Elisha Bugasch (1:05.54 in the 500 meters) and Maria Owens (5.32m / 17-5.50 in the long jump; 11.31m / 37-1.25 in the triple jump) were the closest Highlanders to the top of the standings in their respective events.

Triple Jump: Jaden Johnson (14.32m / 46-11.75, 4th)

NJIT will split time at a pair of Massachusetts meets next weekend (January 27-28): The John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University and UMass Lowell's River Hawk Invitational.
