STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The NJIT track and field teams' continued assault on the school's record book continued after the Highlanders completed their time at the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartan Invitational Friday evening at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

NEW HIGHLANDER RECORDS & VICTORIES
  • Freshman Jaden Johnson recorded the top performance on the men's side, winning the triple jump with a third straight school-record-setting performance. Johnson has gone from 14.31m / 46-11.50 at the Seahawk Shootout (12/9/22) to 14.42m / 47-3.75 at the Wagner Invitational (1/6/23) to today's 14.60m / 47-11.00.
  • Freshman Maria Owens did not set the school mark in the long jump for the third straight meet but she did win the event for the second week in a row after nearly matching her 5.55m / 18-2.50 mark at last week's Wagner Invitational with a first-place leap of 5.53m / 18-1.75. Owens has finished in the top two in the long jump in each of her first three college meets.
  • Owens did take the Highlander record in the triple jump with a runner-up mark of 11.51m / 37-9.25.
  • Nia Holloway bettered her season-opening 60 meters school record time of 7.88 with an event-winning PR of 7.77.
  • Amiyah Stephens, Lucia Julvez, Grace Burke, and Holloway took second and beat the 2017 NJIT mark in the 4x200 Relay by over four seconds, from 1:48.62 to 1:44.48.
  • In the men's 4x200 Relay, Jeusten Jourdain, JC Baratta, Lossenie Fofana, and Jacob Leigh - making his season debut at the meet - ran a combined 1:29.35 to reset the school mark in the event.
