LEBANON, IL–McKendree topped visiting NJIT, 3-1, in men's volleyball non-conference inside Melvin Price Convocation Center Tuesday evening.

McKendree picked up its first win of the season, recording a 25-21 and 25-23 victory in the first two sets and a 25-18 win in the fourth to secure the 3-1 win.  NJIT earned a 25-21 win in the third set behind a .360 hitting percentage.  

The Bearcats, which hit .279 for the match, were led by three players, reaching double-digit kills – Kyle Wilson (17), Kevin Schuele (11) and Bryce Wetjen (11).  Setter Tyler Poulsen combined for 46 assists to go along with four digs and three total blocks (one solo, two assists).

Leading the way for the visiting Highlanders was tri-captain Julian Meissner with a team-best 10 kills followed by Alessandro Negri (9), Jens Feldthus (7) and Martin de Chavarria (6).  De Chavarria finished with a .200 hitting percentage on 10 attempts to go along with two block assists and two aces.

NJIT's Roque Nido and Griffin Fieseler split time at the setting position, piling up 18 and 15 assists respectively in two sets played.

Meissner, De Chavarria and Negri each recorded two aces as the Highlanders held a 6-to-2 edge over the Bearcats.

NJIT will conclude its three-match road swing on Wednesday at 7pm (CT)/8pm(ET) when the Highlanders visit Lindenwood.  The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
