NEWARK, N.J. — Two members of the NJIT men's lacrosse team have earned America East postseason honors, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman Gage Adams was named to the All-Rookie team while junior Liam Brown reclaimed a spot on the All-Academic team for the second straight year.
Adams, an attacker and native of Kirkland, Wash., ended his first collegiate season second on the team with 15 goals, 10 assists and 25 total points while also adding 14 ground balls and a caused turnover. Adams opened his career with the first America East Rookie of the Week award of the season after logging seven total points in his first two games (4 G, 3 A).
Adams scored two goals on four different occasions (at Delaware, vs No. 15 Lehigh, at Marist, vs UAlbany) and posted multiple point games in 11 of 13 contests, topped by his four-point debut at Delaware on February 5.
Brown, a Cedar Grove product, the Highlanders' starting goalkeeper, and a 2021 All-Academic selection, made this year's team after earning a 3.83 GPA while majoring in Biomedical Engineering.
Brown made a career-high 148 saves in 2022, which was good enough for third in the America East. Brown made 11.38 saves per game, also third in the conference. He also had two of the top three save performances in the league in 2022 - a career-high-tying 21 at Marist on April 12 and 20 against Lehigh on February 12.
