NEWARK, NJ — NJIT Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Lenny Kaplan announced on Friday the resignation of men's lacrosse head coach Travis Johnson.  

Johnson was the inaugural head coach in program history, which began competition as an NCAA Division I team in 2015. Johnson navigated the program from independent status to affiliate membership within the Northeast Conference and full membership within the America East Conference.

"I want to thank Travis for the past nine years as our head men's lacrosse coach," said Kaplan.  "He always worked tirelessly on behalf of his student-athletes. Our men's lacrosse team has consistently been one of our most spirited, hard-working teams - on the field and in the classroom."

A national search for the Highlanders' next head coach will begin immediately.
