Julian Meissner Named AVCA Division I-II Men’s Player of the Week

Junior opposite Julian Meissner has been named AVCA Division I-II Men's Player of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Meissner picked up his third weekly award of the week after earning EIVA Conference Offensive Player of the Week, OffTheBlock National Opposite of the Week and AVCA Player of the Week.

In a 2-0 week for No. 15 NJIT, the Highlanders picked up a pair of wins over visiting Charleston 3-0 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Meissner, standing 6-foot-7 from Berlin, Germany, averaged 5.63kps combined for a .427 hitting percentage and combined for 12 total blocks, averaging 1.50bps.

On Saturday, Meissner put together an impressive performance in an exciting 3-2 five set victory, registering a career-best 31 kills, which is the highest kill total in program history since 2007 (37 kill; Leonardo Paludo) in a five set match.  The 31 kills also ranks tied for second most in the nation in a five-set match.  He finished the match hitting .449 with five digs, two aces and two block assists.

In the 3-0 sweep on Friday, Meissner notched 14 kills and posted a .385 hitting percentage with three block assists.

Meissner and the Highlanders will return to action this weekend with a pair of EIVA Conference road matches at George Mason  on March 25 (7pm) and Princeton on March 26 (5pm).  Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
