Box Score NEWARK, N.J. --- The NJIT women's tennis team fell for the first time at home this season in its closest match of the year, a 4-3 loss to the LIU Sharks Sunday evening at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.

The Highlanders found themselves facing a troubling 3-0 after the Sharks captured the doubles point and the first and fourth singles flight. LIU put NJIT on the ropes even further after taking the first set in both the No. 2 and No. 3 bur the Highlanders showed their resolve and initiated their comeback.

Amira Badawi won her second and third sets at No. 3 by 6-3 scores to put the Highlanders on the board while Joleta Budiman was pushed to seven points in her two winning sets at No. 2 that cut LIU's lead to 3-2.
Sandra Dzhambazov evened the matched at 3-3 with NJIT's first straight set win of the night but it would prove to be the team's last after the Highlanders failed to secure the No. 6 flight.

NEXT UP
NJIT will remain at home this season, facing the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Sunday, March 6  at 12:30 pm.
