NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT women's basketball team recorded its 12th win of the season in a 69-52 win at Hartford behind four double-figure scorers paced by Lyzi Litwinko's team-best 16 points Saturday afternoon in America East Conference women's basketball action at Chase Family Arena.

The 12 wins for NJIT this season is the second highest win total since moving to Division I in the 2006-07 and the seven road wins is a new NJIT Division I mark.

The Highlanders, winners of two consecutive games, improved to 12-11 on the season and 7-5 in the league.  The seven wins in America East play is a program-best since joining the league in June 2020.

Litwinko, who shared game-high honors with Hartford's Carmen Villalobos, nearly missed notching a double-double with 16 points and game-best nine rebounds.  Forward Kimi Evans added 13 points while Ellyn Stoll chipped in 11 points and Kiana Brereton chipped in 10 points off the bench in 15 points.  Brereton finished 5-for-7 with four rebounds while Stoll went 4-for-8 from the field.

As a team, the Highlanders shot 45.8% from the field and 68.8 % from the free throw line, coming for 24 points off of Hartford's 17 turnovers in addition to 20 bench points in the win.

The Highlanders combined for a 24-8 run over the second and third quarters and extended its advantage to 16, taking a 52-36 lead into the fourth quarter.  NJIT controlled the remainder of the game, securing its seventh win in America East action with a 69-52 victory.

Villalobos led the Hawks with 16 points and six rebounds followed by Jabria Ingram who added 11 points and four assists.

NJIT will wrap up a two-game America East Conference road stretch at UMass Lowell on Wednesday, February 16 at 7pm.
