FAIRFIELD, CT–The NJIT men's and women's fencing teams competed at the Tradition Tournament hosted by Sacred Heart on Sunday, December 4.

The NJIT women picked up a pair of wins against Vassar (17-10) and host Sacred Heart (18-9) while dropping a close decision to Temple (15-12), Penn State (18-9) and Princeton (22-5).

Paula Zugasti led the epee squad, registering an 11-4 overall record on the day, going undefeated against Vassar and Sacred Heart.  Senior Dominika Pawlowska went 9-1 on the day for a 90% winning percentage.

Senior Cassandra Sehic combined for nine wins in the women's saber competition.

The NJIT men recorded two wins against host Sacred Heart and Vassar by identical scores, 16-11.  NJIT fell in close scores against NYU (16-11), Penn State (15-12) and Harvard (23-5).

Freshman John Griffin paced the foil squad, combining for a 10-5 record while classmate Daniel Jeun recorded seven wins in the men's epee competition.

Both teams will return to action in the New Year at the Philadelphia Invitational on January 21 hosted by UPenn.
