NEWARK, NJ–UAlbany's Andrew Weiner scored the lone goal of the match in the 89th minute as the visiting Great Danes picked up a 1-0 road victory at NJIT in America East Conference men's soccer action at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
UAlbany recorded its third win in America East action, improving 4-7-3 overall, 3-1-1 in the league while the Highlanders, who were coming off a season-best 4-0 non-conference win over Hartford on Tuesday, moved to 4-6-4 overall, 0-3-2 in the America East.
With two matches left on the Highlander schedule (Oct. 30 at UMBC and Nov. 1 vs. Bryant), NJIT sits in sixth place in the America East Men's Soccer standings with two points.
HOW IT HAPPENED

UAlbany's Max Wilhelm registered the first shot of the match in the 14th minute but NJIT's Samuel Reisgys made a right-foot save to keep the match scoreless.

NJIT had a pair of opportunities in the 32nd minute on a shot blocked by Alejandro Rabell and a follow up strike by Hugo Tavares which was saved by the UAlbany goalkeeper.

After the first 45 minutes, NJIT held a 4-2 advantage in overall shots while Asembo Aguo and Hugo Tavares registered a shot on goal each.

In the 51st minute, Alejandro Rabell chipped the ball over the Albany defense, finding Augo inside the box. Augo settled the ball and blasted a shot with his left-foot which was saved by UAlbany's Shafique Wilson.

NJIT's Reisgys kept the Great Danes off the board with a split save in the 53rd minute on a shot by Jeff Thielmann.

In the 73rd minute, Rabell's strike just above the penalty box sailed high-wide.

The Great Danes scored the lone goal of the match in the 89th minute on a goal by Weiner assisted by Elias Ehlin for a 1-0 lead.

NJIT finished the match with a slight advantage in overall shots (11-9) while corner kicks were even at 4-4.

Keeper Samuel Reisgys combined for five saves while facing nine Great Danes shots.
