Coach Barboto on Tavares: "One of our international players who is Portuguese/Canadian that we believe will make a great impact.  He starred this summer with the Canadian u20 team in the CONCACAF qualifiers.  He is a very strong midfielder who is very technical and excellent at controlling the tempo of the game."

2023: Started all 19 matches. ... combined for five goals, two assists for 12 points which shares team-high honors with Alvaro Heredia.

2022: America East All-Rookie team. .. started all 16 matches ranking second on the Highlander team with three goals and tied for second with six points.  Tavares has scored in two consecutive contests for NJIT (at UMBC; Oct. 28 & vs. Bryant; Nov. 1).  

Prior to NJIT: Tavares is coming off a successful summer with the Canadian u20 team in the CONCACAF qualifiers. ...played for FC Pacos de Ferreira and placed fourth in the u15 National First Division.
