Women's Soccer Ends Non-Conference Road Slate With Loss To Lafayette

EASTON, PA --- The NJIT women's soccer team closed the road portion of its non-conference schedule with a 1-0 road defeat against the Lafayette Leopards Sunday afternoon at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field.

The contest was more of a scrappy, defensive matchup than in the Highlanders' other games this season: after playing seven contests that averaged a combined 24 shot attempts, NJIT (2-6) and Lafayette (2-4) only accounted for ten total shots.

Unfortunately for the Highlanders, they were unable to overcome the Leopards' first shot of the game, an early goal from Lafayette's Gretchan Waechter in the sixth minute of the contest.

NJIT was held without a corner for the second time this season and first since playing at Pittsburgh on August 29 and could only generate three shots, its fewest total since the Pittsburgh game (two shots).

Ciara Adams, Bailey Chant and Caroline Caputo recorded the Highlanders' three chances on Sunday, with Caputo's second half shot (71') forcing the Leopards' only save of the game.

Molly Saylor was able to make a pair of saves during her full 90 minutes of action.
