NEWARK, N.J. —- The NJIT men's lacrosse team was unsuccessful in its upset bid Saturday afternoon, falling 17-2 to the No. 19/19 Vermont Catamounts in America East action at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
Freshman
Jack Bowie increased his team lead in goals for NJIT (0-5, 0-3 AE), adding a pair of second half scores to up his season total to nine. Bowie's first goal came at the 9:18 mark of the third quarter. Collin Fogerty found Bowie in front of the net for the score.
His second goal came in the waning moments of the fourth quarter. A preceding shot by Fogerty was saved into the air and Bowie corralled the deflection and scored before the ball could hit the ground.
For the Victoria, British Columbia native, the multi-goal performance is his third in his first five collegiate games.
Sophomore
Liam Brown played three of the game's four quarters in goal and made 17 saves for his fourth double-digit save performance of the season. Freshman
Bryce Zell closed out the game and made five saves in his 15 minutes. Senior
Lynch Raby led the Highlanders with three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

NJIT will begin a two-game America East road trip on Saturday, March 27 when the Highlanders face UMass Lowell. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
