Newark, NJ - The NJIT men's tennis team will look to add to its season-opening, four-match winning streak this weekend when they play two more matches.
The Highlanders will first host Wagner on Saturday at 1pm at the Naimoli Tennis Center in Newark, before hitting the road for the second time this season on Sunday when they travel to West Point, NY, to take on Army West Point.Â
"We're hoping to keep the momentum going into this weekend of match play," said Head Coach
Ira Miller
NJIT's wins this season have come against Drexel, La Salle, Bucknell, and most recently, Fairleigh Dickinson, on Wednesday in Newark.
The Highlanders have earned the doubles point in three of four matches this season and are led in singles play by sophomore
Samuel Townes and freshman
Ashwin Kanetkar, who are each 4-0.
NJIT is 3-0 all-time against Wagner, with the most recent meeting coming in 2018, while the Highlanders are 3-9 against the Black Knights, including a 4-1 loss last season.
"Army is always tough at their place," added Miller. "But we are looking forward to bringing it all on Sunday."
NJIT won't get much of a break following its busy weekend as the Highlanders are scheduled to travel to St. Joseph's on Tuesday for a 3pm match in Philadelphia.
