NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT men's tennis team is slated to open up its 2020-21 season on Sunday when it hosts Drexel at the Naimoli Tennis Center in Newark.
"We are looking forward to hosting Drexel this Sunday," said Head Coach
Ira Miller. "It has always been a heated, but friendly rivalry. More so, our last competition was March 8 of 2020 so it will be awesome to compete again, especially on our home courts."
Miller's squad will be led by co-captains
Abdullah Fouad and
Juan Bejarano. Fouad finished the 2019-20 season, which was cut short due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, with a 10-8 record in singles play, while Bejarano earned three singles wins of his own.
The 2020-21 Highlanders' roster features 11 returners and one newcomer,
Ashwin Kanetkar, who hails from North Brunswick, NJ.
First serve against the Dragons is set for 11am Sunday.
