Men's Lacrosse Finalizes Coaching Staff For 2022

NEWARK, N.J. --- NJIT Men's Lacrosse head coach Travis Johnson has announced a realignment of his coaching staff as the Highlanders prepare for the 2022 campaign.

Longtime assistant coach Blase Mantineo has been promoted to the Highlanders' lead assistant for this season. To fill the position vacated by Mantineo, Johnson has announced the hiring of Cade Siddron, a former Division III lacrosse player and New Jersey youth lacrosse coach.

2022 marks Mantineo's fifth season at NJIT (since 2018) and his knowledge of the Highlander culture, dedication to the program, and growth as a leader will be invaluable to the program as it begins to wrap up its first decade of existence.

Mantineo played for Montclair State for four years (2014-17) as a faceoff specialist, appearing in 74 games, and earning a .643 FO%. His 413 career ground balls were the most in Montclair State men's lacrosse history. In his senior year, was named to the USILA All-America Team (honorable mention), Second Team All-East by the IMLCA and First-Team All-Skyline Conference. Mantineo set Montclair men's lacrosse single-season marks for faceoff wins (298) and percentage (.708) in 2017. Mantineo also spent a brief stint in the training camp of Major League League Lacrosse's Charlotte Hounds.

Siddron recently concluded a five-year playing career at Division III Moravian University in Bethleham (2017-21), appearing in 53 contests, logging 181 total points (118 G, 63 A), and adding 75 ground balls, 16 man-up goals, and 13 caused turnovers. As a senior, Siddron earned Second Team All-Landmark Conference honors and finished his career second in school history in points. The Boonton native was a three-sport athlete and state champion at Mountain Lakes High School.

Prior to NJIT, Siddron began earning his coaching stripes working with the New Jersey Riot Club Lacrosse program out of Randolph (6th Grade Coach/Offensive Coordinator), Center Court Academy (Director of Boys Lacrosse - Montclair), and as a volunteer assistant in Fall 2021 at Fairleigh Dickinson.
