NEWARK, NJ - NJIT men's basketball rising junior
Souleymane Diakite updated Matt Provence on how he has dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic, while also discussing his breakout sophomore season as a Highlander as well as several other topics.
Diakite, a native of Mali who played high school basketball in Spain and at St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, started all 30 games last season, after seeing action in just 16 as a freshman. The forward/center finished second in the ASUN Conference in blocks (2.0 bpg) and third in rebounding (8.5 rpg), while also averaging just under eight points per game.
In addition to his big improvements on the court, Diakite also talks to Provence about several off-the-court topics including how he has dealt with the COVID-19 Pandemic, issues surrounding systemic racism in the world, and what makes NJIT such a special place.
