With the evolving nature of the COVID-19 public health threat and in light of yesterday's announcement by the NCAA to cancel the remaining NCAA championships, the Northeast Conference Presidents convened by conference call this morning and voted to cancel all competition (conference and non-conference) as well as organized and formal practices for all teams on NEC campuses for the remainder of the spring semester. In addition, the NEC has announced a moratorium on all on- and off-campus in-person recruiting activities until further notice.

In light of the latest news regarding COVID-19, the Northeast Conference (NEC) has announced that the remainder of the 2020 NEC Women's Basketball Tournament has been canceled. The upcoming NEC Women's Bowling Tournament is also canceled and all spring sports conference play is suspended immediately through at least March 29.
"This is a prudent measure to ensure the health, safety and wellness of NEC student-athletes, coaches, administrators, fans and media," said NEC Commissioner Noreen Morris. "We are committed to providing opportunities to compete for our student-athletes, but their health and wellness is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the latest developments on the COVID-19 virus with the well-being of our member institutions and their communities in mind."
