WEST POINT, NY - The NJIT men's tennis team was defeated by host Army West Point 4-1 on Saturday in non-conference action.
The Black Knights improved to 7-6 on the season, while the Highlanders' overall record dropped to 1-5.
"Unfortunately, Army asked to stop the match when someone clinched," explained Head Coach
Ira Miller. "Aidar was about to close out the match and Sam was ahead in the third set. The match was very close, which is promising for our upcoming contests."
Tin Dizdarevic was NJIT's lone winner on Saturday, taking his second singles match 6-4, 6-4 over David Gorshein.
The Black Knights swept all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match and then won at first, third and sixth singles to clinch the team victory.
NJIT will return right back to the court on Sunday when it welcomes Navy to the Naimoli Tennis Center in Newark. First Serve is slated for 12pm.
