BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The NJIT women's tennis team opened the weekend with a 6-1 victory over the Lehigh Mountain Hawks Friday evening at the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center.
The Highlanders improved to 7-3 on the year after claiming its second straight road win.
"It was good for the team that we could get our second consecutive road win today. We will turn the page on today's match and only put all our focus on Sunday's game versus Buffalo," head coach
Zaki Abdelrahman said after the match.
NJIT took the doubles point by winning all three flights and had the match clinched after Aya El-Sayed,
Amira Badawi, and
Shamika Dhar won their respective flights at Nos. 3, 2, and 4. Lehigh earned a win at the top singles flight but the Highlanders closed out the match with a straight set win at No. 5 and a come-from-behind three-set win at No. 6.
