NEWARK, N.J. --- The NJIT women's tennis continued its impressive start to its home schedule on Sunday evening, earning a 5-2 victory over the LIU Sharks at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreation Facility.
While NJIT (5-2) conceded its first games of the year from the confines of their home in Newark, the Highlanders were still able to clinch their fifth straight match at home to open the 2020 season.
"LIU is a strong team with a deep lineup. I was happy that our players stepped up and got the job done, even in the tough moments," head coach
Zaki Abdelrahman said after the win. "We played good under pressure and remained disciplined throughout. Brianna and Advaita clinched the doubles point and played well in the deuce points while Joleta and Amira played some of their top tennis all year and never gave their opponents any chances."
