WEST POINT, N.Y. --- Mouna Bouzgarrou represented the NJIT women's tennis team onq the final day of the Army West Point Invitational Sunday afternoon, advancing to the semifinals of the A Singles Consolation round. 

Bouzgarrou opened the day by defeating Kristine Theys of Stony Brook in the quarterfinals, 8-3 and ended the tournament with a hard-fought 8-4 defeat against Stephanie Dolehide of the host Black Knights.

"Overall, we won half of our singles matches in this tournament, which is a good sign," head coach Zaki Abdelrahman said at the conclusion of the tournament. "I was glad to see Adara Omar playing some of her best tennis, showing a high level of focus and mental stability. Also Advaita brought her A game and was strong in all her matches, both indoors and outdoors. Shamika competed strongly and made the second round of Flight B by knocking out Top Seed from Army. We have to keep working on developing our outdoor game to match the victories we are getting on indoor courts."

NJIT will return to West Point in three weeks to compete in the ITA Regional Championships, which begins on October 17.
