AUGUSTA, NJ—Visiting FGCU swept Saturday's ASUN doubleheader, earning a pair of victories, 6-1 in game one and 4-3 in the nightcap, clinching a spot in the 2019 ASUN Conference Tournament on Saturday at Skylands Stadium.
FGCU (32-18 overall, 14-6 ASUN) became the first team to clinch a spot in the ASUN Conference Tournament.
NJIT concludes the 2019 season with a 17-27-1 overall mark, 7-17 in ASUN.  Seven Highlanders –

Chris Gibbons were honored in-between Saturday's doubleheader.
Game One | FGCU 6, NJIT 1 (Final)
FGCU starting pitcher Evan Lumbert moved to 5-2 on the season, pitching 8.1 innings, allowing just one Highlander run on six hits while striking out three batters.  Reliever Tyler Schuk registered his first save of the season, facing two batters in the ninth.
Senior CF 
Michael Anastasia drove in the lone Highlander run, finishing 2-for-4 while DH 
David Marcano went 2-for-4.
Freshman righty 
Joe Georgini, the Highlanders third pitcher in game one, pitched 2.1 innings, holding the Eagles scoreless and allowing just two hits.
NJIT struck first in the bottom of the second with runners on the corners on a RBI single to centerfield by 
Michael Anastasia for a 1-0 lead.
FGCU tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth with an RBI groundout to short by DH Joe Kinker.
A big fifth-inning for the Eagles, plating four runs on four hits to take a four-run cushion, 5-1.
FGCU added a run in the top of the sixth on a bases-loaded walk, pushing its lead to 6-1.
NJIT threatened in the bottom of the ninth with bases loaded but RHP reliever Tyler Shuck, who has appeared in 14 games, with a 6-1 record closed out the game, registering his first save of the season.
Game Two | FGCU 4, NJIT 3 (Final)
NJIT starter 
Sean Lubreski took a no-decision in his final collegiate start, pitching 7.0 innings, allowing three Eagle runs and fanning three FGCU batters.  Freshman 
Darwin Rodas was credited with the loss, moving to 1-1 on the season, pitching the eighth and ninth, allowing just one run on three Eagle hits.
Hunter McGarry, the second pitcher for the Eagles, moved to 6-1 on the year, holding the Highlanders scoreless and hitless in the final 4.0 innings while striking out five.
NJIT's 
Brett Helmkamp and 
Justin Etts each drove in a run in game two, with Helmkamp finishing 2-for-3 and Etts, going 1-for-4.
FGCU scored a pair of runs in the top of the first, taking an early an early 2-0 lead.
NJIT plated its first run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single up the middle by 
Justin Etts, scoring 
Brett Helmkamp, who doubled down the left field line.
The Eagles added a run in the top of the fifth after a pair of back-to-back doubles to lead off the inning, taking a 3-1 lead.
NJIT rallied rallied in the bottom of the fifth with two-outs, with an RBI single down the right field line by Helmkamp and tied the game at 3-3 after an Eagle infield error on 
Matthew Cocciadiferro's at-bat.
FGCU broke the 3-3 tie in the top of the ninth as Jalen Townsend brought home pinch runner Marc Coffers in with a sac fly to left to take a 4-3 lead.
