JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The NJIT men's and women's track & field spent their spring break opening the 2019 outdoor season at the University of North Florida Spring Break Invitational.

The Highlanders were able to produce eight top-10 performances over the events two days:

MEN

• 800 meters: Ryan Budhu (School Record - 4th; 1:53.75)
• 400 hurdles: Alex Ortega (4th; 53:50)
• 4x100 relay: 5th (42.54)
• Long Jump: Kwaku Amponsah (7th; 6.86m / 22-6.25)
• 4x400 relay: 9th (3:22.77)
• Hammer Throw: Yogou Tsutsumi (10th; 38.88m / 127-6.00)

WOMEN

• 1500 meters: Cassandra Raia (7th;5:02.45)
• 4x400 relay: 10th (4:10.34)
   

In addition, freshman Connor Letko set a new NJIT freshman record in the discus with a toss of 39.59m (129-10.00).
