NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT men's fencing team competed at a pair of Invitational this weekend – the Elite Invitational hosted by Penn and MACFA A vs. B hosted by Hunter.
At the Elite Invitational, the Highlanders picked up two wins against North Carolina (16-11) and Yale (14-13).
The epee squad combined for a 32-22 mark, led by
Robert Hondor with a 12-6 overall mark and
Brett Bogert, who recorded 10 wins.
In MACFA A vs. B competition, went 5-1 with wins over Lafayette (21-6), Rutgers (25-2), Cornell (25-2), TCNJ (26-1) and Rowan (24-3). The lone loss came against Drew (18-9).
The sabre squad went an impressive 46-8 paced by
Thomas Slawinski (14-0) and
Andrew Richardson (13-0), who both went undefeated on the day.
The epee squad combined for a 42-12 overall mark, led by eight wins from Elaguruman followed by
Tristan Gibson with eight.
The foil squad also notched 42 wins, paced by
Alexander Massa with 10 wins followed by
John Mongrella III.
Justyn Hall added 12 wins for the Highlanders.
