NEWARK, NJ--The NJIT women's fencing team opened its 2019 campaign at the LIU Invitational, registering a 5-1 record led by freshman Dominika Pawlowska with 14 wins Sunday afternoon.
The women picked up wins against Wagner, Drew, Fairleigh Dickinson, Hunter and host LIU, combining for a 111-50 overall record on the day.
Pawlowska led the Highlanders with a 14-3 record in foil competition, followed by Marina Arrese with a 12-5 record.
The saber squad went undefeated against all six schools, notching a 47-7 mark.
Sophomore Paloma Almodovar and Annalena Shigihara both earned 10-7 records in epee competition while Cassandra Sehic combined for the most wins in saber, finishing with a 12-2 overall mark.
Freshman Dorottya Berczy finished the day with a perfect 9-0 record.
